Home again

Hello and thanks again for your prayers. We were released from the hospital last Sunday and have enjoyed being home. Overall though, it was really a pleasant experience and we were able to get some rest while we were still in the hospital. Makenna is doing so well and it seems too good to be true. She is sleeping for at least a 4 hour stretch each night and has gone close to 6 hours several times! She is very content and we are so delighted and blessed to have her as a part of our family!

We found out that Makena is also a name that is used here in Kenya and that it means "happiness"! Our Makenna has indeed brought us much happiness and joy!

I will be going back to work next week and then I will have another week off to help Abbie with the kids after her mom returns to the States. We have been blessed to have "Grammie" here to help make this transition much easier.

Please pray for Abbie's youngest sister Lacey who is expecting her first child. She is still nearly 2 weeks from her due date but we found out today that she is going to have to be induced on Monday due to excessively low amniotic fluid levels. Abbie's mom had intended to be back by the time the baby was delivered and we are all sad that now she won't be able to be there to help Lacey for the first week and a half.

Blessings,

Reini

Makenna Joy

Makenna Joy Schmidt was born at 3:06 pm on Thursday April 2nd! She was 7 lbs. 4 oz. and 21 inches long. She and Abbie are doing very well. I came home today to pick up Abbie's mom and the kids and we spent the entire afternoon at the hospital. I just came home again now to drop them off and update the website with a few pictures. We are hoping to be released tomorrow, Saturday, or Sunday at the latest but we won't really know that until the doctor comes by tomorrow. We'll try to get some more news and pictures up over the weekend but we hope you enjoy these ones for now. Thanks so much for your prayers. I know Abbie especially appreciated them as she went into these "uncharted waters" with having a c-section in a third world country.
Blessings,
Reini
